Send Email From Codex
Codex connects to remote MCP servers over streamable HTTP. The Codex CLI, the IDE extension and the desktop app share one config, so you add Inboxjot once.
Add the Server
Run this in your terminal:
codex mcp add inboxjot --url https://mcp.inboxjot.comThis writes the server to ~/.codex/config.toml. You can also add it by hand:
[mcp_servers.inboxjot] url = "https://mcp.inboxjot.com"
A .codex/config.toml file in the repository works too, but only in projects you trust. In the IDE extension, open the gear menu, choose MCP servers, then Add server, pick Streamable HTTP and paste the URL. Restart the extension after.
codex mcp login inboxjotCodex opens Inboxjot in the browser. Do this step before you use the server. Without it, Codex connects with no sign-in and every tool call fails.
Inboxjot then asks you to pick a workspace and the access the tool gets. See Access.
Check the Connection
codex mcp listcodex mcp get inboxjot shows the details of one server. To turn the server off without deleting it, set enabled = false under [mcp_servers.inboxjot].
Try It
- “Send a test email from hello@yourdomain.com to me with the subject Hello.”
- “Show my sending stats for the last 7 days.”
- “Wire the signup form to send a welcome email with Inboxjot, then send me one.”
- “Find the template for receipts and preview it.”
Remove the Server
codex mcp remove inboxjotTo cut access from the Inboxjot side, revoke the tool on the MCP page of the dashboard.
