# Send Email From VS Code

VS Code runs MCP servers for Copilot Chat. Add Inboxjot to your user profile or to one workspace, start it, and Copilot can send email, read delivery status and draft campaigns.

## Add the Server

Run this in your terminal to add the server to your user profile:

```bash Terminal
code --add-mcp '{"name":"inboxjot","type":"http","url":"https://mcp.inboxjot.com"}'
```

To share it with your team, add it to `.vscode/mcp.json` in the workspace instead:

```json .vscode/mcp.json
{
  "servers": {
    "inboxjot": {
      "type": "http",
      "url": "https://mcp.inboxjot.com"
    }
  }
}
```

The command palette also has MCP: Add Server, and MCP: Open User Configuration opens the user file.

## Sign In

Run MCP: List Servers, select inboxjot and choose Start Server. VS Code opens Inboxjot in the browser the first time it connects.

Inboxjot then asks you to pick a workspace and the access the tool gets. See [Access](https://inboxjot.com/docs/mcp.md#access).

## Check the Connection

Run MCP: List Servers and select inboxjot. Show Output shows the server log if it fails to start.

## Try It

- “Send a test email from <hello@yourdomain.com> to me with the subject Hello.”
- “List my sending domains and the DNS records they still need.”
- “Add a magic link email to this app and send me one with Inboxjot.”
- “Show the last 10 emails sent to <sukha@example.com>.”

## Remove the Server

Run MCP: List Servers, select inboxjot and choose Uninstall, or delete the entry from `mcp.json`. To cut access from the Inboxjot side, revoke the tool on the MCP page of the dashboard.
