# Send Email From GitHub Copilot CLI

GitHub Copilot CLI connects to remote MCP servers over HTTP. Add Inboxjot once, sign in, and Copilot can send email, read delivery status and draft campaigns from the terminal. For Copilot in the editor, see [VS Code](https://inboxjot.com/docs/mcp/vs-code.md).

## Add the Server

Run this in your terminal:

```bash Terminal
copilot mcp add --transport http inboxjot https://mcp.inboxjot.com
```

This writes the server to `~/.copilot/mcp-config.json`, so it works in every folder. To share it with your team, add it to `.mcp.json` or `.github/mcp.json` in the repository. Copilot reads those files only in folders you trust. It does not read `.vscode/mcp.json`.

## Sign In

Start `copilot` and run `/mcp auth inboxjot`. Copilot opens the sign-in form for the server, then Inboxjot in the browser.

Inboxjot then asks you to pick a workspace and the access the tool gets. See [Access](https://inboxjot.com/docs/mcp.md#access).

## Check the Connection

```bash Terminal
copilot mcp list
```

`copilot mcp get inboxjot` shows the details. In a session, `/mcp show inboxjot` shows the same.

## Try It

- “Send a test email from <hello@yourdomain.com> to me with the subject Hello.”
- “How many emails bounced this month?”
- “Add an invite email to this app and send me one with Inboxjot.”
- “List the webhooks on my workspace.”

## Remove the Server

```bash Terminal
copilot mcp remove inboxjot
```

In a session, use `/mcp delete`. To cut access from the Inboxjot side, revoke the tool on the MCP page of the dashboard.
